If the name “The Final Countdown” conjures up images of Swedish glam rockers and keyboard synth riffs, then you’re not alone and it’s not an accident. The Final Countdown slot, which was created following a partnership with Relax Gaming Limited and Big Time Gaming, is based on the Swedish band Europe, who released the eponymous track.

The Final Countdown Basics

The song on which this title is based was as 80s as a song can get, and all of that style (or lack thereof) is embodied by this video slot. Europe also provide the soundtrack, which, depending on your taste in music, is either a great thing or a very annoying one.

The Final Countdown has an intergalactic, cosmic theme, with players trying to blast off into the cosmos while collecting some big wins on their way. It’s fun, it’s fast-paced, and if you’re honest with yourself it also has a great soundtrack!

Come on…who doesn’t love a bit of Europe?

The Final Countdown Review: 82/100

There have been a number of brilliant music-themed video slots in the last few years. It seemed to begin with a slot based on KISS, which was so-so at best, but from there we got slots based on rock legends like Guns n Roses, Jimi Hendrix, Motorhead and Ozzy Osbourne.

Europe doesn’t really belong in the same group as the aforementioned rock and metal legends, but their biggest hit certainly does—it’s a cheesy classic that deserves a slot of it’s own and in The Final Countdown that’s exactly what it has got.

This is a slot that we definitely recommend to music fans and to anyone who lived though the 1980s. However, if you want to play for more than an hour, we recommend hitting mute, lest this earworm classic stay with you all week.
